About the Work

Our client provides advisory and engineering support for organizations involved in electric power projects. Their team helps clients evaluate project feasibility, optimize designs, and assess technical, environmental, commercial, and financial considerations throughout the project lifecycle.

Role Overview

The person in this position will contribute to project development by evaluating power‑generation facilities, supporting conceptual engineering work, and acting in an owner's‑engineer capacity. Responsibilities include technical reviews, analysis of design approaches, and participation in due diligence exercises. The role may also involve reviewing project economics, assessing risk, and contributing to contract‑related efforts.

Experience with conventional power‑generation technologies is particularly beneficial.

This position may involve domestic and occasional international travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • At least seven years of experience involving power plants or heavy industrial control systems, especially in one or more of the following areas:
    • Simple‑cycle gas turbines
    • Combined‑cycle facilities
    • Coal‑fired generation
    • Reciprocating engine (RICE) installations
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering principles and their practical use in project design.
  • Hands‑on experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLC programming.
  • Ability to interpret and produce control logic diagrams and narrative descriptions.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, methods, and design workflows used for producing technical deliverables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Candidate must already be authorized to work in the U.S.; the company cannot provide sponsorship for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background supporting owner's‑engineer reviews or technical due diligence for power‑generation projects.
  • General knowledge of plant operations, performance analysis, or process‑engineering concepts relevant to power facilities.
  • Experience performing on‑site work, such as system upgrades, commissioning, or startup support.
  • Exposure to cost analysis, economic modeling, or contract development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or interest in pursuing licensure.

Estimated salary range: $100,000 - $160,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
