We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Charlotte office and contribute to complex, high‑performance building projects.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical systems design for building projects of varying scale and complexity. This role involves providing technical guidance, coordinating across disciplines, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that mechanical systems meet high standards of performance, sustainability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building systems from concept through construction.
- Produce and oversee detailed engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, interior designers, and other disciplines throughout the design process.
- Serve as the primary mechanical engineering contact for select projects, including direct client interaction.
- Conduct site assessments, field observations, and review of construction progress for conformance with design intent.
- Support sustainable design initiatives and integrate energy-efficient solutions into project systems.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior and mid‑level engineers.
- Participate in quality assurance/quality control reviews and internal standards development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or the ability to obtain licensure in North Carolina within a reasonable timeframe.
- 8-12+ years of mechanical building systems design experience.
- Strong proficiency with HVAC system design, mechanical load calculations, and plumbing design principles.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical engineering modeling software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP).
- Familiarity with building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainability frameworks such as LEED or WELL.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and client engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
