Senior P&C Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate advanced expertise in protection and control (P&C) systems for utility substations and transmission lines, including design and application of protective relaying schemes for buses, lines, transformers, and capacitors.
  • Lead the development of SCADA communication systems and ensure seamless integration with substation automation.
  • Serve as lead engineer on projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers through all phases of design and execution.
  • Apply strong project management skills to develop scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation P&C design projects.
  • Interpret and produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, relay settings, and SCADA configurations for systems up to 500kV.
  • Conduct technical studies such as fault current analysis, coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and installation assessments using client-specified tools and standards.
  • Review and validate engineering designs for accuracy, compliance with client standards, and construct-ability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drafters, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, suppliers, and utility clients to ensure project success.
  • Provide field engineering support, including site visits, troubleshooting, and real-time design modifications during construction and commissioning.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering and construction documentation, including bills of materials, yard layouts, electrical details, and installation plans.
  • Design substation systems including ground grids, busywork (rigid and strain), raceways, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
  • Develop and update technical specifications for major substation equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, and control houses.
  • Coordinate system integration of protection, control, and monitoring systems across disciplines.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and as-built documentation processes with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for site support and client engagement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including temporary coverage of other roles as needed.
