Senior Roadway Design Engineer - Atlanta

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Roadway Design Engineer to lead complex transportation infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on roadway and roundabout design. This role is ideal for professionals with deep technical expertise and leadership experience, particularly in GDOT projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of roadway projects, including roundabouts, intersections, and corridors.
• Prepare detailed design plans using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Oversee horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control plans.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with GDOT standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
• Collaborate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Ideal: 10+ years of roadway design experience.
• Acceptable: 8-9 years with proven leadership on complex design projects.
• Extensive experience in roadway and roundabout design.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Strong familiarity with GDOT standards and procedures.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Design-Build or alternative delivery methods.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting and utility coordination.
• Ability to lead client meetings and represent the firm in public forums.
