Survey Team Lead
A well-established consulting firm with a strong presence in North Texas is seeking a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (R.P.L.S.) Team Leader to join its Allen office. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned survey professional looking to guide a high-performing team, manage diverse projects, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.
Position Overview
The Team Leader will oversee a dedicated survey group responsible for delivering a range of services including boundary surveys, design surveys, platting, construction staking, and document preparation. The role combines technical expertise with team leadership, client engagement, and operational oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers and production staff
- Set team goals and ensure alignment with company standards and procedures
- Conduct regular performance reviews and mentoring sessions
- Hire, train, and develop team members
Project & Client Management
- Manage multiple survey projects from planning through delivery
- Coordinate field crews and office staff to meet project deadlines
- Ensure quality control and adherence to budgets and timelines
- Maintain strong client relationships and serve as primary point of contact
Technical Execution
- Prepare and review boundary surveys, right-of-way exhibits, plats, and related documentation
- Utilize geodetic control, topographic survey methods, and parcel mapping
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support design and construction efforts
Business Development
- Support marketing and sales efforts, including proposal development and client outreach
- Approve scopes, fees, schedules, and contracts for assigned projects
- Contribute to strategic growth planning and financial performance
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred
- Must hold active Texas R.P.L.S. license
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years as a Project Manager or Team Leader in surveying
- Proficient in Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment
- Skilled in Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Carlson, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage client expectations
