Senior Wastewater Reuse Engineer

Position Overview

This role involves leading complex engineering projects focused on wastewater and water reuse systems. The successful candidate will oversee all phases of design and construction support, manage multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a technical expert and project manager across multiple concurrent initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and execution of wastewater and reuse infrastructure projects, including preliminary and detailed design phases and construction support.
  • Develop and review hydraulic calculations, treatment process evaluations, technical memoranda, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate design efforts across multiple engineering disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls).
  • Supervise and mentor engineering staff, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as project manager for mid- to large-scale initiatives, with full accountability for performance and client satisfaction.
  • Engage in proposal development, client interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Identify and manage subconsultant contributions to projects.
  • Participate in professional organizations through technical presentations, committee involvement, and leadership roles.
  • Support recruitment efforts by identifying talent and participating in hiring processes.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in wastewater and reuse system design, with expertise in treatment processes and plant design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proven track record managing complex engineering projects with responsibility for budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address novel engineering challenges.
  • Effective communicator with experience in client engagement and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with master planning, conveyance systems, and treatment plant design.
  • Working knowledge of structural and geotechnical principles, laboratory techniques, and relevant codes and regulations.
  • Politically astute and responsive to client needs.
  • Comfortable working in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Proficient in public speaking and technical presentations.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
