Transmission Engineer I - Power Delivery
The Transmission Engineer I is responsible for developing cost‑effective conceptual and engineering solutions to upgrade, expand, maintain, and automate overhead and underground power transmission lines. This role supports a variety of client projects using industry software systems, engineering standards, and construction practices. Individuals in this position ensure compliance with client procedures, design standards, regulatory requirements, and safety codes.
Working under the direction of a Lead Engineer, the Transmission Engineer I collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams involved in substation, distribution, transmission, renewable energy, energy storage, and communication system design.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of a Lead Engineer to support utility clients across the U.S. on projects ranging from asset maintenance programs to multi‑year rebuilds and tie lines.
- Travel to project sites as needed to gather field data and interface with clients.
- Perform all aspects of overhead and underground power line design, including line routing, finite element analysis, hardware and conductor selection, technical support during construction, One‑Calls, permitting, right‑of‑way coordination, and preparation of electrical one‑line diagrams.
- Develop a clear understanding of required project deliverables such as plan and profiles, structure load analysis, structure framing, bills of materials, and design drawings.
- Coordinate internal and external design reviews prior to final submission.
