Vice President, Power Market
Role Summary
The Vice President, Power Market will serve as the driving force behind organizational entry and growth in the natural gas and thermal power generation space. This role is responsible for shaping the vision, developing strategy, and leading execution across all aspects of the business. Key areas of oversight include market development, client engagement, and project delivery, ensuring all initiatives support long‑term objectives and deliver exceptional outcomes.
This position carries full responsibility for market performance, including financial results, operational excellence, and risk management. The role leads a team of professionals and fosters a culture rooted in collaboration, safety, and innovation. From identifying new opportunities and forming strategic partnerships to guiding projects from pursuit through closeout, this leader ensures that the organization consistently meets or exceeds client expectations while building a strong reputation in the power sector.
Success in this role requires deep knowledge of power generation technologies, extensive experience managing complex, large‑scale projects, and the ability to operate strategically within competitive markets. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands‑on leadership and leverages industry relationships and commercial insight to drive sustainable market growth.
Note: This role requires extensive travel. While candidates located in the southeastern or central U.S. are preferred, flexibility may be available based on experience and willingness to travel.
Key Responsibilities (Core)

Strategy Development
- Provides strategic direction to teams across the full project lifecycle.
- Aligns market strategy with broader organizational priorities.
Client Relationship Management
- Acts as the primary executive‑level client contact.
- Builds and maintains long‑term relationships to drive new business and secure repeat work.
Business Development
- Develops and executes the market's business development strategy.
- Evaluates market dynamics, competitive positioning, and fee structures.
- Leads go/no‑go decisions, RFP responses, and win strategies.
- Participates in sales presentations and key marketing activities.
- Oversees contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, reduce risk, and maximize revenue and margin.
Risk Management
- Serves as the escalation point for project, financial, contractual, and client‑related issues.
- Directs issue resolution (change orders, contingencies, fee adjustments).
- Conducts risk assessments and ensures visibility of critical risks to senior leadership.
Partner Strategy
- Develops long‑term relationships with subcontractors and engineering partners.
- Leads partner selection and establishes strategies that support market success.
Preconstruction
- Participates in high‑level client preconstruction discussions.
- Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to develop estimates, schedules, staffing plans, and business cases.
Project Oversight
- Ensures project performance throughout the lifecycle.
- Holds teams accountable to all contractual, schedule, and quality expectations.
Resource Management
- Ensures adequate staffing to meet commitments.
- Adjusts resourcing as needed to support changing project or market demands.
Industry & Community Engagement
- Represents the organization within industry groups and community networks.
- Strengthens visibility and helps advance market interests.
Diversity

Additional Responsibilities
- Leads larger or more complex programs, including managing multiple teams or geographic areas.

- Acts as subject matter expert across multiple functional areas (HR, finance, BD, risk, etc.).

- Knowledge of supplier diversity regulations (MBE, WBE, SBA).

Education
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- 12+ years of construction management experience.
- 5+ years of people management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects or market sectors.
- Preferred experience:
- Launching or expanding a power generation market segment
- Managing fossil or thermal power generation clients/projects
- EPC expertise, commercial structures, and risk management
- Strong industry network (utilities, developers, key stakeholders)
- Strategic planning with measurable growth outcomes
Working Conditions
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Overnight travel as required.
- Non‑traditional hours as needed to support project needs.
- Primarily office‑based with occasional exposure to extreme conditions.
