Water/Wastewater Project Manager - Remote

Our client is looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join their team in a fully remote role. Candidates must reside in Maryland or Washington, DC, as the position supports regional branch offices and may involve occasional coordination with local stakeholders. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with at least 8 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design and project management.

The successful candidate will oversee the planning, design, and execution of projects such as pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. They will serve as the primary liaison to clients, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead water/wastewater infrastructure projects from initiation through completion.
  • Conduct hydraulic modeling and develop system layouts.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documents, and bid packages for treatment facilities and distribution systems.
  • Manage client relationships and serve as the firm's representative to municipalities and utility authorities.
  • Develop proposals and scopes of work for new opportunities.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges with detailed, proactive solutions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and support permitting processes.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster team collaboration.
  • Coordinate with inspection and construction teams to ensure quality execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and project management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland (or ability to obtain promptly).
  • Strong understanding of water/wastewater systems and regional regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
