W/WW Project Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading water and wastewater utility organization responsible for delivering essential services to communities across multiple regions. Unlike traditional consulting firms, this organization owns and operates its infrastructure, allowing its teams to focus on delivering impactful projects that directly improve utility systems and customer service. The company is committed to long-term investment in its assets, employees, and the communities it serves.

Position Overview

The Water/Wastewater Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of a variety of capital improvement and infrastructure projects. This is a true project management role with no design responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys driving projects, managing stakeholders, budgets, schedules, consultants, and contractors through successful project completion.

The successful candidate will serve as the key point of coordination between internal departments, engineering consultants, contractors, regulators, and utility operations teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initiation through construction and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate and manage external engineering consultants and construction contractors.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, and overall progress.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and project partners.
  • Review project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, change orders, and contract documents.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to leadership.
  • Support capital improvement planning and long-term asset management initiatives.
  • Drive projects to successful completion while balancing operational and customer service needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing water and/or wastewater projects.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, schedules, consultants, and contractors.
  • Understanding of municipal or utility water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, but not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • 7% employer 401(k) match.
  • Hybrid schedule with work-from-home flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Pure project management role with no design responsibilities.
  • Opportunity to work directly for the infrastructure owner rather than competing for the next project win.
  • Long-term project pipeline supported by owned and operated utility assets, providing stability and visibility into future work.
  • Meaningful projects that directly impact communities and critical water infrastructure.
  • Strong emphasis on employee development, training, and career growth.
  • Utility environment offering a collaborative, operationally focused culture where projects move from concept through implementation and ownership.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project management professional seeking greater ownership, long-term project stability, and the ability to see the direct impact of their work on critical water and wastewater infrastructure.
