About the Client:
Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering firm with a strong presence across Canada. Known for their collaborative approach and technical excellence, they specialise in delivering practical, high-quality solutions for building performance, restoration, and design challenges. Their Halifax office is growing, and they're looking for a motivated Building Science Consultant to support a variety of exciting projects in the region.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct visual and intrusive investigations to identify building envelope and structural issues
- Develop repair strategies and prepare detailed technical reports
- Create engineering drawings and specifications for restoration projects in line with current codes and standards
- Perform site reviews to ensure construction aligns with design intent
- Provide consulting support for building envelope design in new construction
- Manage contract administration and coordinate with contractors and clients
- Mentor junior staff and assist with project planning and delivery
What You Bring:
- Diploma or degree in Architectural, Civil/Structural, or Building Science Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in a consulting or engineering environment
- Working toward or already hold a professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., CET)
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems and construction practices
- Comfortable working at heights and using access equipment (ladders, swing stages, rooftops)
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
Nice-to-Haves:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with building codes and fire safety standards is a plus
- Experience working directly with clients and contractors
