Director of Origination/Business Development
The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic team focused on developing and managing energy infrastructure projects that drive community economic development, promote environmental stewardship, and support a growing portfolio of thermal and renewable assets. Key Responsibilities:
- Originate, negotiate, and execute power purchase agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, and capacity contracts to commercialize a diverse development pipeline.
- Build and maintain relationships with utilities, data centers, power marketers, and other potential counterparties.
- Develop outreach strategies and marketing materials for projects and technologies under development.
- Evaluate wholesale power market opportunities across ISOs and identify RFP opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams (development, finance, engineering) to align commercial strategies with project milestones.
- Support due diligence and contract negotiations for greenfield projects and acquisitions.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform future development strategies.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in power origination, energy trading, investment banking/M&A, or power contract negotiation and structuring.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. power markets, including ISO/RTO structures, bilateral markets, interconnection processes, and regulatory matters.
- Financial modeling expertise and ability to assess and communicate the value of offtake agreements.
- Proven sales, networking, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing proposals and presentations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively toward common goals.
- High ethical standards and self-motivation.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively across the U.S. (~75%).
