Position Overview
A well-established general contractor in Oregon City, OR is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to support and deliver a strong backlog of civil infrastructure work. This role offers the opportunity to manage meaningful projects from preconstruction through closeout while working alongside seasoned field leadership and executive support.
Projects may include earthwork, underground utilities, roadway construction, site development, and public works infrastructure throughout the region. This position is best suited for a hands-on project manager who values accountability, collaboration, and long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage heavy civil construction projects from award through final completion
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, cost control, forecasting, and reporting
- Coordinate closely with superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, owners, and engineers
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders
- Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and contract compliance
- Track progress and proactively address scope, schedule, and cost impacts
- Ensure work aligns with plans, specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Support preconstruction, estimating, and job planning efforts as needed
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
Experience Needed
- 7+ years of experience managing heavy civil construction projects
- Background in earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and civil infrastructure
- Experience delivering public works and/or private civil projects
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, self-performed work, and project teams
- Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, and production tracking
- Familiarity with municipal, state, or DOT-style projects preferred
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, project controls, and field operations
- Proficiency with systems such as Procore, HCSS, MS Project, or similar platforms
- Solid understanding of OSHA standards and jobsite safety requirements
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites
