Our Project Structural Divisions provide forensic, civil, and structural engineering services for both existing and new buildings. We serve architects, property owners, community managers, lawyers, and the construction industry. Our services include inspections, infrastructure upgrades, and construction support to ensure proper implementation. We also offer forensic engineering services to the insurance and legal industries related to claims and construction deficiencies.
We are seeking a highly qualified individual to help build, grow, and manage a Structural Engineering Division serving Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
Required Qualifications:
- Accredited degree in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- 8-10 years of experience as a structural engineer in an MEP environment
- Proficiency in structural, mechanical, or electrical design (preferably more than one)
- Strong knowledge of structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Familiarity with architectural and MEP engineering disciplines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational, marketing, and business development skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to climb ladders and perform site assessments
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of engineering professionals, including conducting annual performance reviews
- Oversee structural MEP design projects and coordinate across disciplines
- Perform and review engineering designs and quality control
- Conduct investigations, analyses, and studies
- Perform construction defect testing
- Review designs prepared by others for quality control
- Mentor and train junior engineering staff
- Prepare proposals and fee estimates for new projects
- Attend trade organization meetings and business development events
- Manage project budgets and employee timesheets
- Review project invoicing with accounting support
- Assist with managing division accounts receivable
- Develop strategies for division growth
- Ensure billing aligns with firm requirements
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives
- Represent the division in corporate meetings and communications
