Role Overview
A growing civil construction contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support complex infrastructure and environmental construction projects in the Boston area.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who has experience in civil construction, environmental work, utilities, excavation, demolition, sitework, or related infrastructure projects and is looking to grow into a full Project Manager role. The right candidate will be organized, proactive, and comfortable working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to keep projects moving.

This role offers exposure to both the field and financial sides of construction, including project documentation, cost tracking, change orders, scheduling, procurement, and coordination with active job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination from startup through closeout
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation
  • Track project costs, budgets, invoices, purchase orders, and job progress
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and field teams to support schedule and production goals
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract requirements
  • Help manage subcontractor and vendor communication
  • Assist with procurement, material tracking, and project logistics
  • Support project reporting, schedule updates, and cost control efforts
  • Identify project issues early and help drive timely resolution
  • Maintain organized project records and clear communication across the team

What They're Looking For

  • Experience in civil construction, environmental construction, utilities, excavation, demolition, sitework, or infrastructure projects
  • Background as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar construction role
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and project documents
  • Comfortable with project documentation, spreadsheets, and construction management systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Motivated to grow into a larger project management role over time
