About the Opportunity
A well-established, employee-focused engineering consultancy is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects throughout the region.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer with municipal consulting experience to take the next step into project management, working alongside senior engineers, public-sector clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
You'll gain exposure to a wide range of infrastructure improvement projects while developing both technical and client-facing skills.
Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will support the planning, design, permitting, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, helping ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Typical projects may include:
- Stormwater management improvements
- Water and wastewater infrastructure
- Roadway and transportation projects
- Site and utility improvements
- Capital improvement programmes
- Community infrastructure initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects.
- Support permitting and regulatory approvals with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Coordinate site visits, field observations, and stakeholder meetings.
- Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, invoicing, and financial tracking.
- Review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting engineering documentation.
- Support proposal preparation and business development initiatives.
- Coordinate with engineers, technicians, contractors, clients, and regulatory representatives.
- Help maintain project quality standards and technical accuracy.
- Contribute to team development and ongoing training initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; PE licence a plus.
- 4+ years of civil engineering experience.
- Experience supporting municipal, infrastructure, site development, or public-sector projects.
- Strong understanding of permitting, stormwater management, drainage, and utility design.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel locally as required.
- Authorisation to work in the United States.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with civil engineering design and drafting software.
- Experience using stormwater modelling and hydraulic analysis tools.
- Knowledge of infrastructure design, permitting, and development review processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management platforms.
- Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
