Senior Controls Engineer
Overview
A growing systems integration and automation consulting firm is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design, implement, test, and support automation and control systems for manufacturing and process industry clients. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of industries while leading automation projects and providing technical support to both clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support industrial automation and control systems.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot DCS, PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
- Design and support electrical control hardware systems.
- Collaborate directly with clients to understand requirements and deliver effective automation solutions.
- Support manufacturing processes and instrumentation systems.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical and operational issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
- Participate in on-call support activities as required.
- Work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams to deliver projects successfully.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation, process controls, or systems integration.
- Hands-on experience programming, configuring, and supporting automation platforms including:
- PLCs
- HMIs
- SCADA systems
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Experience with common industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, FactoryTalk, Siemens, Wonderware, PlantPAx, PCS 7, or similar systems.
- Ability to support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
