AV Design Engineer
Responsibilities
You will work with a dynamic team of systems engineers responsible for the design and technical direction of complex Audio Visual (AV) and collaboration technology projects across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design hardware and software architectures for large-scale, resilient AV systems to meet stakeholder requirements, industry standards, and performance objectives.
- Develop drawing packages and bills of materials using CAD software.
- Design, test, and troubleshoot integrated AV systems, including:
- Videoconferencing platforms
- Control systems
- Displays and video walls
- Matrix switching systems
- Audio reinforcement systems
- Cameras and microphones
- Streaming and collaboration technologies
- Design AV solutions utilizing Crestron, AMX, and Extron control platforms.
- Conduct site surveys and gather operational, functional, and technical requirements for project development.
- Support project scoping, budgeting, and system cost estimation.
- Design, test, and troubleshoot IP-based network and telecommunications systems supporting AV environments.
- Review plans and specifications to determine equipment, materials, and system requirements.
- Interpret and develop electrical and low-voltage design documentation, blueprints, and drawings.
- Manage project priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Develop and execute functional acceptance testing plans for AV control systems.
- Deliver end-user and administrator training for installed AV systems.
Qualifications
Security Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship may be required depending on project and client requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree in a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and implementing hardware and software solutions for data center and virtual infrastructure environments.
- Ability to develop project cost estimates and work breakdown structures for complex projects.
- Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Background working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20%, including occasional international travel.
- Familiarity with IT, telecommunications, AV, and electrical systems and associated specifications.
- Strong understanding of videoconferencing technologies and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with design-build and conceptual design methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including interaction with senior leadership and clients.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and consulting skills in a fast-paced environment.
