Join a leading international energy company with a strong presence in Japan. We are expanding our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business and seeking an experienced professional to drive project development and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Role Summary:
As a BESS Project Development Expert, you will play a key role in developing and executing energy storage projects from concept to completion. This position offers the opportunity to join an established platform and contribute to its growth by leveraging your expertise in subsidies, project acquisition, and end-to-end development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Development: Lead the fulllifecycle of BESS projects, including:
- Site identification and land acquisition
- Pre-development planning and permitting
- Construction oversight and post-project management
- Subsidy Management: Identify, secure, and manage government subsidies and incentives for energy storage projects.
- Market Expansion: Develop strategies to expand BESS operations in Japan, including greenfield and brownfield opportunities.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely project delivery.
- Reporting: Prepare and present project updates to senior management and HQ
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Proven track record in renewable energy project development (Solar, Wind, BESS)
- Strong understanding of Japanese subsidy programs and regulatory frameworks.
- End-to-end project management experience.
- Language Skills:
- Japanese: Business-level proficiency (mandatory).
- English: Conversational level for internal reporting (AI tools can assist).
- Other:
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel for site visits and business meetings (approx. 2 trips/month).
