Senior Structural Engineer - Transportation Infrastructure
An established engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead transportation infrastructure projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex bridge and structural assignments, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the growth of a high-performing team.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania; PE in New Jersey is a plus
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering
- Experience collaborating with state and local transportation agencies
- Prior involvement in state-level transportation projects is highly preferred
- Strong project management and client engagement skills
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and meeting contractual obligations
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and structural design software used in transportation engineering
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze bridges, culverts, buildings, and other infrastructure assets
- Lead all phases of transportation-related structural projects, including permitting and coordination
- Conduct bridge inspections and prepare technical documentation
- Develop project proposals and manage client communications
- Provide construction-phase support including contract administration and budget oversight
- Monitor project financials and ensure compliance with scope and budget
- Represent the firm in professional and civic organizations to support business development
- Support senior leadership in expanding the structural engineering practice and client base
- Mentor and manage engineering staff with a focus on performance, profitability, and growth
