Bridge Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Mid‑Level Bridge Engineer to join our growing Transportation Structures team in Miami, Florida. This role is ideal for an engineer with solid bridge design experience who is ready to take on increased responsibility, contribute technically to complex projects, and grow within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
The position will support a variety of bridge and transportation structure projects for FDOT, counties, municipalities, and other public agencies throughout South Florida.
Key Responsibilities
Bridge & Structures Design
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and transportation structures in accordance with FDOT, AASHTO, and industry standards.
- Prepare and review design calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assist with the design of new bridges, bridge widenings, rehabilitations, and repair projects.
- Support load rating, structural evaluations, and constructability reviews.
Project Support & Coordination
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate design elements with roadway, drainage, traffic, and construction teams.
- Assist with responding to client comments, quality control reviews, and design revisions.
Technical Growth & Professional Development
- Participate in mentorship and training to build technical expertise and leadership skills.
- Contribute to development of design standards, tools, and best practices.
- Support technical portions of proposals and client presentations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred).
- 4-8 years of bridge and transportation structures experience.
- Experience designing bridges in accordance with FDOT and AASHTO LRFD specifications.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification; Florida PE or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe preferred.
- Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., CSiBridge, LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MDX, SAP2000).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with South Florida or FDOT District 4 clients.
- Exposure to bridge rehabilitation and repair design.
- Familiarity with construction engineering inspections (CEI) or shop drawing review.
