Building Automation Field Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Building Automation Field Specialist to join our Chicago-based team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in field service, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure systems are installed and operating efficiently and reliably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and commission building automation systems (BAS) for HVAC, lighting, and energy management.
- Perform on-site diagnostics and troubleshooting to resolve system issues.
- Collaborate with design and programming teams to implement control strategies and verify system functionality.
- Conduct system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
- Provide technical support and training to clients and internal staff.
- Maintain detailed documentation of service activities, system configurations, and client communications.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in building automation systems.
- Proficiency with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally within the Chicago area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certifications (e.g., Niagara N4, HVAC/R, Electrical).
- Experience with energy efficiency or sustainability-focused projects.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
