Building Envelope Consultant
The Opportunity
An established building enclosure consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Envelope Consultant to support the design, evaluation and construction of complex exterior building systems.
You will work closely with clients, consultants and engineering teams to develop practical architectural details for curtain wall, façade and exterior cladding systems. The position combines technical design with hands-on field involvement, including construction observations and air and water infiltration testing.
This opportunity would suit an experienced consultant who understands how enclosure systems are designed, documented, tested and installed, and who can communicate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural details for curtain wall, façade and exterior cladding systems
- Produce clear and workable sketches for exterior building enclosure assemblies
- Review architectural and structural drawings, technical specifications and wind tunnel test reports
- Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical design and performance issues
- Support clients and consulting teams throughout the design and construction process
- Conduct field observations to evaluate installation quality and compliance
- Perform or oversee air and water infiltration testing
- Prepare clear technical documentation, reports and project correspondence
- Manage responsibilities independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Travel to project sites when required
What We Are Looking For
- Professional experience in curtain wall, façade or building envelope consulting
- Strong understanding of exterior cladding systems and building enclosure detailing
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Experience reviewing technical specifications and performance-related documentation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Familiarity with Revit
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written communication, grammar and technical reporting skills
- Confidence communicating directly with clients, consultants and engineers
- Ability to work independently and productively within a team environment
- Willingness to work outdoors and attend active construction sites
- Availability for travel
