Cad Technician | New York City, NY
Position Overview
My client is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Support Technician with strong experience in Autodesk Civil 3D workflows. This role will play a key part in supporting our technical teams and project efforts throughout New York City and the surrounding region. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver with a strong background in civil design technology, capable of supporting both day-to-day CAD needs and broader production initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical resource for staff by providing responsive helpdesk and troubleshooting support related to CAD and design software
- Assist engineers, planners, and designers with the effective use of drafting, modeling, and visualization tools
- Deliver one-on-one and group training sessions to improve software proficiency and promote best practices
- Develop, update, and enforce company-wide CAD standards, templates, and documentation
- Support project teams with design production, drafting coordination, and quality control efforts
- Collaborate with IT and project leadership to ensure efficient workflows and optimized software usage
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification with a concentration in computer graphics, drafting technology, or construction-related design
- Approximately 4 to 10 years of professional experience supporting survey, civil engineering, or construction design projects
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, including surface modeling, alignments, profiles, and corridor workflows
- Working knowledge of MicroStation CONNECT, including experience with Bentley OpenRoads and/or ArcGIS platforms
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and cloud-based collaboration environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support users with varying levels of technical expertise
