About the Role
We are seeking a Civil Construction Engineer to support the planning, design, and construction of transportation, municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects throughout Wisconsin. This position is open to candidates with varying levels of experience, from early-career engineers looking to grow their construction management skills to experienced professionals capable of leading complex projects and client relationships.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, project coordination, and field operations. This individual will work closely with contractors, municipalities, DOT personnel, and internal engineering teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Provide construction engineering and observation services on civil infrastructure projects.
- Review construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with contractors, project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, quantities, and construction progress.
- Conduct field inspections and verify compliance with design plans and quality standards.
- Prepare daily reports, documentation, and project records.
- Assist with change orders, RFIs, pay estimates, and project closeout activities.
- Support roadway, utility, site development, bridge, municipal, and transportation projects.
- Lead project teams and mentor junior staff as experience level warrants.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for future work.
Qualifications
Junior Level (0-5 Years)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain.
- Knowledge of construction methods and civil engineering fundamentals.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Internship or co-op experience in construction or transportation projects preferred.
Mid-Level (5-10 Years)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience with construction engineering, inspection, or project management.
- Familiarity with WisDOT standards, specifications, and procedures preferred.
- Ability to manage project tasks independently.
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
Senior Level (10+ Years)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Extensive experience managing civil construction and infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to oversee budgets, schedules, staff, and client relationships.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong business development and client management skills are a plus.
