CEI Inspector (Roadway, Bridge & Signal/ITS) | Memphis, TN

A growing transportation consulting firm is seeking a CEI Inspector to support transportation construction projects in the Memphis, Tennessee area. This is a great opportunity for an inspector with roadway, bridge, and/or signal/ITS experience who is looking to advance their career with a well-established engineering firm working on high-profile transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Inspect roadway, bridge, and signal/ITS construction activities
  • Perform material testing and complete required documentation
  • Monitor contractor compliance with project requirements
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and fellow inspection staff
  • Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate project records
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of construction inspection experience
  • Minimum 1 year of roadway, bridge, or signal/ITS inspection experience
  • Engineer Interns (EIs) seeking CEI experience are encouraged to apply
  • TDOT project experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Certifications

Candidates possessing any of the following TDOT or equivalent certifications are highly desired:

  • Asphalt Roadway Paving Inspector
  • Asphalt Plant Technician
  • Class I Concrete Technician
  • Soils & Aggregate Technician
  • Nuclear Gauge Training
  • EPSC/TDEC Level I
  • OSHA 10 Construction Safety
  • Guardrail Installation Training
  • IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector

Experience with SiteManager and LIMS is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role supporting active transportation construction projects throughout the Memphis area
  • 40+ hours per week
  • Night work may be required
  • Daily travel to project sites and meetings
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
