About the Role

We are partnering with a growing systems integration firm seeking a Controls Engineer to join its engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of automation projects, collaborating directly with clients and contributing to every stage of project execution, from initial concept and design through commissioning and long-term support.

The successful candidate will be passionate about automation, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and thrive in a project-driven environment where no two projects are the same.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement custom automation and control system solutions.
  • Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications.
  • Support all phases of the project lifecycle, including design, development, testing, commissioning, startup, and ongoing support.
  • Work closely with clients to understand operational objectives and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, functional specifications, and test procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve control system issues both remotely and on-site.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience developing and implementing industrial automation and control systems.
  • Strong PLC programming experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation platforms.
  • Experience with SCADA, HMI, and reporting systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative engineering team.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project support, commissioning, and startup activities.

Preferred Experience

  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
  • FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware, or similar SCADA platforms.
  • Industrial networking and communications protocols.
  • System integration, commissioning, and startup experience.
  • Experience delivering turnkey automation projects in a client-facing environment.
