Summary
Seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design custom automation equipment, robotic cells, tooling, and special-purpose machinery using SolidWorks. The role involves supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial concept and detailed design through machine build, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and customer installation.
Responsibilities
- Design custom machinery, automation equipment, robotic cells, and tooling
- Create 3D models, machine assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs
- Select mechanical components, including pneumatics, actuators, motors, bearings, and guarding
- Manage engineering documentation, drawing releases, and revisions
- Support fabrication, assembly, and machine build activities
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and make design changes during build
- Support machine testing, FAT, commissioning, startup, and installation
- Work closely with Controls Engineers, Robot Programmers, Project Managers, and assembly teams
Qualifications
- Experience designing custom machinery, automation equipment, or industrial equipment
- Strong SolidWorks and 3D mechanical design experience
- Experience creating assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs
- Knowledge of pneumatics, actuators, mechanical components, and GD&T
- Experience supporting equipment through build, testing, and troubleshooting
- Background with a system integrator, robotics integrator, machine builder, or custom machinery OEM preferred
- Experience with robotic cells, assembly automation, tooling, or material-handling systems is beneficial
