An established main contractor working on large‑scale data center projects is seeking an experienced Data Center Commissioning talents to join the team in Melbourne, Australia. This is a full‑time, site‑based role overseeing commissioning activities across major mission‑critical facilities.
The Role
As the Commissioning Manager, you will lead the end‑to‑end commissioning of all critical building services for electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and fire. You will drive planning, testing, integration and verification to ensure the successful handover of a safe, reliable and fully commissioned data center.
Responsibilities:
- Leading commissioning activities across all critical services
- Developing and reviewing commissioning plans, procedures and test documents
- Preparing energization plans and coordinating IST and performance testing
- Aligning commissioning programs with construction schedules
- Coordinating subcontractors, vendors, site teams and the CxA
- Interfacing directly with the client and overseeing inspections, witnessing and reporting
- Reviewing drawings for serviceability and commissioning requirements
- Ensuring complete and compliant documentation for project handover
- Promoting strong safety and quality culture on site
Requirements:
Essential experience:
- Strong building services background (trade / diploma / degree)
- Proven data center commissioning or electrical/building services experience
- Experience leading or coordinating critical services (electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, fire)
- Hands‑on experience with commissioning plans, energization planning and test scripts
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs and schematics
- Excellent stakeholder coordination skills (client, CxA, subcontractors)
- Experience in mission‑critical or Tier‑rated data centers
- Experience with a main contractor or as a CxA
Working Conditions
- Site‑based role with some office days
- Working hours driven by commissioning activities
- May support multiple sites depending on project timelines
