Design Manager
Role Overview
An established organisation in the digital infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the delivery of complex, mission-critical data centre projects. This role oversees the full design lifecycle, from early concept through construction and commissioning, while ensuring technical excellence and strong stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams across large-scale data centre projects
- Manage all design phases, including feasibility, concept, and detailed design
- Act as the main technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
- Ensure designs meet local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices
- Review technical documentation, specifications, and engineering deliverables
- Support procurement, including vendor evaluations and technical reviews
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Work closely with construction and commissioning teams to maintain design intent
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
- Professional engineering certification in the relevant jurisdiction
- Strong experience in data centre, mission-critical, or large infrastructure projects
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams
- Solid understanding of local engineering standards and regulatory requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with design management, pre-sales support, and client engagement
- Familiarity with international standards for data centre design and operations
- Proficiency in standard office and project management tools
- Willingness to travel as required
