Operating in sectors such as mission critical, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and advanced technology, the firm combines development capability with in‑house design-build expertise to offer a truly integrated delivery model.
As the business continues to expand its mission critical/data center footprint, they are seeking a Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth, strengthen customer relationships, and position the firm as a partner of choice for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center clients.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for building and executing the growth strategy for the Mission Critical/Data Center division. You will leverage your background in general contracting and your deep understanding of the mission critical market to identify new opportunities, cultivate client partnerships, and shape long-term revenue expansion.
You'll work closely with senior leadership, operations, preconstruction, and marketing teams to deliver a cohesive growth plan rooted in technical credibility and industry insight.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute a national growth strategy for mission critical and data center markets.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with hyperscalers, colocation providers, enterprise clients, and mission critical end users.
- Expand the firm's national presence in established and emerging data center markets.
Client & Partner Development
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with developers, owners, design partners, and consulting engineers.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and relationship-building activities.
- Drive repeat business through exceptional client engagement and service delivery.
Internal Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with operations and preconstruction leaders to ensure accurate proposal development, pricing strategy, and project pursuit plans.
- Lead pursuit teams on RFPs, proposals, and interview presentations.
- Support go/no-go decisions and pipeline forecasting aligned with company revenue goals.
Market Intelligence
- Track industry trends, competitive activity, and market shifts in hyperscale, cloud/AI infrastructure, renewable energy, and emerging data center technologies.
- Provide insight to leadership on market opportunities, risks, and strategic positioning.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in business development within a general contracting or design-build environment.
- Demonstrated success growing a mission critical or data center division/business unit.
- Strong understanding of data center project delivery, redundancy requirements (Tier III/Tier IV), MEP-intensive construction, and large-scale mission critical operations.
- Established network within hyperscale, colocation, cloud, or mission critical verticals (preferred).
- Ability to develop executive-level relationships and influence decision-making.
- Strong communication, presentation, and strategic planning skills.
- Passion for growth, entrepreneurship, and representing an employee-owned organization.
