Overview

A global provider of mission‑critical infrastructure solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer to serve as the Lead Electrical Engineer on complex projects supporting high‑reliability environments such as data centers and industrial facilities. This role spans the full project lifecycle-from presales and design through integration, commissioning, and startup.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with power systems, switchgear, UPS, and generators, and enjoys owning technically challenging electrical designs while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lead Electrical Engineer on assigned projects from presales through final commissioning.
  • Develop electrical designs that meet or exceed quality standards while remaining within budget.
  • Design optimal UPS and DC power systems based on customer IT and equipment loads.
  • Design low‑voltage switchgear configurations and control schemes, including PLC‑ and relay‑based automated transfer systems.
  • Develop ground fault protection schemes, including systems with multiple power sources.
  • Perform detailed sizing and analysis of standby and emergency generators, accounting for load types such as inductive, capacitive, motor, UPS, lighting, and high/low inertia loads.
  • Generate bills of material (BOMs) and modify standard assemblies to meet project requirements.
  • Manage and support third‑party integration partners in developing schematic (SD), detailed (DD), and construction (CD) electrical documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, architects, general contractors, and external partners to produce complete construction document sets.
  • Specify electrical equipment including UPS systems, switchgear, generators, DC power systems, and related components.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local electrical codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) as needed.
  • Review and approve electrical product submittals.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support during pre‑construction and construction phases.
  • Perform quality control during electrical system integration and installation.
  • Support onsite integration, commissioning, testing, and validation of electrical systems.
  • Travel to project sites to support reviews, audits, startups, and coordination with field engineering teams.
  • Develop creative, value‑driven electrical solutions tailored to customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • PE license preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of low‑voltage switchboard and switchgear design, installation, and operation.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Experience with UPS systems, generators, DC power systems, and mission‑critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Modbus, TCP/IP communications protocols, and RS‑485 / Ethernet interfaces.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (Autodesk suite).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Proven project management, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
