Medium Voltage Electrical Design Engineer

A growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Medium Voltage Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of custom-engineered medium voltage power distribution equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional engineering and production teams while contributing to innovative power infrastructure projects.
Position Overview
The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and supporting medium voltage switchgear systems, developing electrical drawings, creating engineering documentation, and assisting with manufacturing and commissioning activities. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can collaborate effectively across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain medium voltage electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring layouts.
- Coordinate with mechanical and manufacturing teams to ensure successful equipment integration.
- Create and manage bills of materials, engineering documentation, and drawing packages.
- Provide technical support during equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and manufacturing specifications.
- Participate in product development, continuous improvement, and engineering innovation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience designing medium voltage switchgear or related power distribution equipment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and electrical drafting practices.
- Strong understanding of single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring design, and electrical equipment layouts.
- Familiarity with medium voltage equipment, including breakers, bus systems, and protective devices.
- Knowledge of IEEE, UL, and related industry standards.
- Experience preparing engineering documentation and supporting manufacturing processess.

- Experience working with medium voltage systems up to approximately 38kV.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
