Electrical Project Engineer | Power Generation
Position Summary
This journey-level Electrical Project Engineer role provides engineering design, project management, and technical support for operations and maintenance across power generation and infrastructure facilities. The position manages multiple moderately complex projects with limited supervision and requires strong engineering judgment, communication skills, and familiarity with industry standards. Work includes coordination with contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and project management for moderately complex power generation projects.
- Provide technical support to operations, including incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Conduct or review engineering analyses, conceptual designs, and feasibility studies.
- Prepare and evaluate proposals, contracts, and technical documentation; ensure code and standards compliance.
- Stamp and approve engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and represent the organization externally.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
- Support continuous improvement and professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- At least 3 years of combined project engineering, design, or construction experience.
- NCEES Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Ability to obtain a state-specific PE license within 18 months.
Desired Qualifications
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Electrical Engineering PE preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong understanding of power generation systems and applicable codes/standards.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and oversee consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvement skills.
