Heavy Civil - Pipe/Utilities Estimator
Location: Provo, UT (Wasatch Front region)
Compensation: $100,000 - $150,000 (DOE)
Experience Required: 5-7 years in heavy civil estimating (pipe & utilities focus)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Pipe/Utilities Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in quantity takeoffs, building accurate cost models, and assembling competitive bids for underground utilities and civil infrastructure projects across Utah County and the surrounding markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for water, sewer, storm drain, utility duct banks, and site civil packages
- Complete accurate quantity takeoffs using digital tools and plans
- Analyze project specifications, plans, subcontractor quotes, and RFIs
- Develop cost breakdowns for labor, equipment, materials, and production rates
- Participate in bid reviews, strategy meetings, and handoff meetings with project teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Evaluate risks, constructability issues, and value‑engineering options
- Assist with change order pricing as needed
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of direct experience estimating pipe/utility work in heavy civil construction
- Strong understanding of excavation, trench safety, shoring, dewatering, backfill, grading, and utility installation
- Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, or equivalent)
- Excellent plan reading and blueprint interpretation skills
- Solid communication, organizational, and time‑management abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast‑paced bid environment
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required)
