Title: Senior Transmission & Distribution Line Estimator
Location: Northern California (Hybrid/Remote Working Available)
Salary: $140,000 - $200,000+ (flexible for highly experienced candidates)

Summary:

An established and rapidly growing utility infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Transmission & Distribution Line Estimator to support overhead and underground power delivery projects across Northern California and the Western United States. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to take ownership of major utility bids, work closely with executive leadership, and play a key role in securing large-scale transmission and distribution projects.

This position offers the flexibility of hybrid or remote working, making it an ideal opportunity for estimators who want greater work-life balance while remaining involved in industry-leading T&D projects.

The Senior T&D Line Estimator will be responsible for:

  • Leading cost estimates for overhead and underground transmission and distribution projects ranging from distribution voltage work through EHV transmission projects.
  • Developing labor units, crew structures, production rates, and construction methodologies.
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and pricing labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Reviewing project drawings, specifications, contracts, and utility standards.
  • Supporting bid strategy, risk assessments, contingency planning, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Coordinating with operations, project management, and safety teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Attending pre-bid meetings, site walkdowns, and client-facing bid reviews as required.
  • Providing estimating support for awarded projects and mentoring junior estimating staff.

The Senior T&D Line Estimator should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience within electrical transmission and distribution construction.
  • Experience estimating overhead and/or underground utility line projects.
  • Knowledge of union labor agreements, prevailing wage requirements, and utility construction practices.
  • Proficiency with HeavyBid, Excel, or comparable estimating software.
  • Strong understanding of utility standards, project execution, and construction means and methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
