We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee federal construction renovation projects for a growing general contractor. This role is responsible for managing all phases of building renovation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with federal requirements and quality standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced working in occupied or secure facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple federal renovation projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Review contract documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure full understanding of project scope and requirements.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts.
- Coordinate with government clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members to ensure successful project execution.
- Procure and manage subcontractors, including scope definition, pricing, and performance oversight.
- Oversee contract administration, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including safety, quality, and security requirements.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address issues related to schedule, cost, and site conditions.
- Conduct regular site visits and meetings to review progress, resolve challenges, and maintain alignment with stakeholders.
- Manage project financials, including billing, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Lead project closeout efforts, including punch lists, final inspections, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on renovation or tenant improvement work.
- Experience managing federal or government construction projects strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with federal contracts, processes, and compliance standards (e.g., FAR, Davis-Bacon, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in active or occupied facilities.
- Knowledge of government agency processes and reporting requirements.
- OSHA certification or strong commitment to jobsite safety practices.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass background checks and obtain required security clearances for federal projects.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (primarily regional).
