Position Summary
The Deputy Project Leader will join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit, which designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services. These services include intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual systems, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high-growth markets.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of a project or a subsection of a project.
- Identify, price, track, and manage change orders, ensuring effective resolution.
- Plan and monitor cash flow against expenses.
- Maintain as-built documentation and record project issues/conditions.
- Plan and execute project completion and punch lists.
- Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Research and compile submittals; prepare estimates for partially designed projects by completing the design and producing a full project estimate.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Represent the company to customers, the public, government entities, and general contractor representatives.
- Ensure timely decision-making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.
Qualifications
- Clearance/Citizenship: Applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship.
- Education: BS degree (preferred in Electrical Engineering or related field) with 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum five years of construction experience with an electrical or construction contractor.
- Experience managing projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
- Familiarity with contract drawings, subcontracts, addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
- Experience with CPM scheduling.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills; ability to own and solve problems.
- Proven ability to plan and organize activities effectively.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, and PDF tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Accubid Estimating (or equivalent) for electrical installations.
- Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling experience (or equivalent).
- Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
