A leading Australian-owned engineering consultancy is seeking a visionary and commercially astute General Manager of Energy to lead its energy division. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with a passion for renewable energy, decarbonisation, and sustainable infrastructure, who thrives in a multidisciplinary, client-facing environment.
The successful candidate will oversee the development and execution of energy strategies across a diverse portfolio of sectors, including renewables, utilities, transport, water, and defence. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for team performance, project delivery, innovation, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement forward-thinking energy strategies, with a focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation initiatives.Team Management
Lead and inspire a high-performing team of engineers, consultants, and project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous development.Client Engagement
Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients across government, commercial, and industrial sectors, delivering tailored, practical energy solutions.Project Oversight
Oversee the full lifecycle of complex energy projects-from concept through to delivery-ensuring alignment with commercial, technical, and sustainability goals.Innovation & Growth
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and emerging technologies that support the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership experience in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L and driving business performance.
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects.
- Excellent client-facing skills with a track record of building long-term partnerships.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance innovation with operational execution.
- Engineering or technical background preferred; consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential.
