About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing engineering consulting team in the Atlanta area. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across commercial, industrial, transportation, healthcare, education, residential, and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of geotechnical projects, from site investigations and engineering analysis through to client management and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute geotechnical investigations for a variety of projects.
- Analyze subsurface conditions and interpret field and laboratory testing data.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, recommendations, and technical proposals.
- Perform foundation, retaining wall, slope stability, pavement, and earthwork analyses.
- Provide geotechnical design recommendations and construction support services.
- Coordinate drilling programs, field investigations, and laboratory testing activities.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure geotechnical considerations are properly addressed.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to clients, contractors, and project teams.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation and client relationship management.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- 3+ years of geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, earth retaining systems, and site development.
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and technical recommendations.
- Proficiency with common geotechnical engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on commercial, transportation, industrial, or municipal projects.
- Knowledge of Georgia geologic and subsurface conditions.
- Construction observation and testing experience.
- Existing client relationships within the Atlanta market are a plus.
