An established, highly respected national geotechnical consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Pipeline Engineer to join their growing Austin practice. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support geotechnical engineering and design for pipeline-related projects, including routing, trenchless crossings (HDD, microtunneling), slope stability, settlement, and subsurface characterization.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, calculations, design packages, and construction recommendations for pipeline systems and associated infrastructure.
- Conduct and oversee field investigations, including borings, test pits, field testing, and geophysical surveys.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and permitting agencies.
- Provide technical oversight on analyses such as liquefaction, lateral spreading, soil-structure interaction, and foundation design for pipeline supports and facilities.
- Participate in QA/QC and peer review processes to maintain high technical standards.
- Support proposal development, client presentations, and contribute to building long-term client relationships.
- Mentor junior engineers and help shape the growing geotechnical pipeline practice in the region.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license - required for consideration.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering.
- 4-12+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to pipeline or linear infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in geotechnical investigation, analysis, and design.
- Familiarity with pipeline-related geotechnical considerations (e.g., trenchless methods, geohazards, subsidence, expansive clays, soft soils, erosion hazards, etc.).
- Proficiency with geotechnical software such as SLIDE, GRLWEAP, SETTLE, PLAXIS, gINT, or GeoStudio.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients.
