Industrial Hygiene Project Manager - Alameda County, CA
Base salary: $90,000 - $125,000 D.O.E.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Hygiene Project Manager to join our team in Alameda County. This role is ideal for a hands-on IH professional who thrives on managing hazardous materials assessments across a variety of building types and site conditions. The position offers a strong pipeline of local project work, minimal travel, and a clear path for continued professional development and certification support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute hazardous materials surveys and evaluations, including sampling and analysis of air, water, soil, and building materials.
- Conduct asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold surveys in accordance with federal, state (Cal/OSHA, DTSC), and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, abatement specifications, and project documentation for a range of clients across commercial, industrial, institutional, and public sector projects.
- Serve as the primary client contact on assigned projects, managing scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables.
- Provide oversight of field staff and subcontractors during sampling, abatement monitoring, and clearance activities.
- Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings clearly to clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support business development efforts by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for follow-on work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- Active CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant) certification, or active CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician) with the ability and commitment to obtain CAC within 12 months of hire.
- Cal/OSHA-certified Lead Inspector/Assessor or Project Monitor credentials strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting asbestos, lead, and mold surveys, as well as broader hazardous materials assessments.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable regulations including Cal/OSHA, EPA, AHERA, NESHAP, and California Title 8/Title 17.
- Excellent technical writing and client communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) designation.
- Prior project management experience in an environmental or IH consulting environment.
- Experience preparing abatement specifications and overseeing remediation contractors.
Travel
- Up to 20%. Project work is concentrated in Alameda County and the greater Bay Area.
