Installation Manager
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Installation Manager to support offshore wind projects in Japan, with a particular focus on offshore foundation installation, geotechnical conditions, and marine construction activities. This individual will play a key role in managing installation strategy, technical interfaces, contractor engagement, and execution planning for foundation packages.
The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in monopile foundations, soil conditions, geotechnical engineering, and offshore installation methodologies, enabling them to contribute immediately to projects that have progressed beyond the early development stage.
Key Responsibilities
Foundation Installation & Technical Leadership
- Lead and support the planning and execution of offshore foundation installation activities.
- Provide technical expertise on foundation installation methodologies, including monopiles and associated offshore structures.
- Evaluate installation feasibility considering soil conditions, geotechnical constraints, weather limitations, and vessel capabilities.
- Review and challenge contractor proposals, installation procedures, and engineering documentation.
- Support risk assessments and mitigation strategies associated with offshore installation activities.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure installation strategies are aligned with project requirements.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a key technical interface with installation contractors, suppliers, consultants, and marine stakeholders.
- Participate in technical discussions, tender evaluations, and contractor selection processes.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and safety expectations.
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams located in Japan and international stakeholders.
Project Delivery Support
- Support project execution activities throughout development, construction, and installation phases.
- Identify technical and commercial risks related to installation activities and propose practical solutions.
- Ensure installation planning is optimized for safety, schedule, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across the project portfolio.
Requirements
Technical Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
- Significant experience in offshore foundation installation.
- Strong understanding of:
- Monopile foundations
- Soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering
- Offshore foundation design considerations
- Installation techniques and methodologies
- Marine construction and heavy lift operations
- Ability to engage confidently in detailed technical discussions with contractors and engineering teams.
- Experience reviewing geotechnical data and understanding its impact on installation planning and execution.
