Junior Geotechnical Engineer
A well-established engineering consulting firm is looking to add an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to its geotechnical team in Houston. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with 2-4 years of geotechnical experience who is looking to continue developing their technical skills within a reputable company that offers a strong project backlog, career progression, and long-term stability.
You'll work alongside experienced geotechnical professionals on a variety of projects across the commercial, industrial, transportation, and infrastructure sectors while receiving mentorship and support as you progress toward PE licensure.
Responsibilities
- Assist with geotechnical investigations, field exploration programs, and subsurface evaluations
- Review and interpret field and laboratory testing data
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and technical recommendations
- Support foundation, pavement, retaining wall, and site development design efforts
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients throughout project delivery
- Participate in site visits and construction-phase observations as required
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and technical documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline
- Active EIT certification
- 2-4 years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and engineering calculations
- Desire to grow professionally and work toward PE licensure
- Ability to work in both office and field environments
