The Land Survey Department Lead will be responsible for:
- Leading all aspects of survey operations including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, utility, and subdivision surveys.
- Managing and mentoring office staff, project managers, survey crews, and field personnel.
- Overseeing project schedules, staffing, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure efficient project execution.
- Reviewing plats, legal descriptions, survey calculations, and deliverables for quality and accuracy.
- Building and maintaining relationships with developers, contractors, municipalities, title companies, and private clients.
- Supporting business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and expanding existing client relationships.
- Driving operational improvements, technology adoption, and strategic growth initiatives within the department.
The Land Survey Department Lead should have the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive land surveying experience within a surveying-focused organization.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license required; Tennessee registration preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- Demonstrated experience leading survey teams, managing personnel, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge of boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, subdivision plats, legal descriptions, and construction staking.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Trimble Business Center, or comparable survey software.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business growth.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a hands-on management approach.
