We are a 100% employee-owned, West Coast-based environmental consulting firm seeking a skilled and motivated Landfill Engineer to join our growing team in Los Angeles. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of landfill projects, from pre-construction planning to active and post-closure site management.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in landfill engineering, including construction quality assurance (CQA), landfill gas (LFG) system design and installation, and environmental monitoring. This role requires a strong technical foundation, regulatory knowledge, and a passion for mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering efforts for both active and closed landfill projects
  • Oversee pre-construction planning and provide on-site support during construction
  • Perform Landfill Construction Quality Assurance (CQA)
  • Design and manage drilling and installation of methane and LFG capture systems
  • Conduct water (surface and groundwater) and soil (in-situ and ex-situ) sampling for contamination
  • Interface with local and state regulatory agencies to ensure compliance
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, design documents, and permit applications
  • Manage on-site junior and mid-level staff for field activities
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain within 12-24 months of hire
  • 5+ years of experience in landfill engineering, including CQA and LFG systems
  • Experience with environmental sampling and regulatory compliance
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff
