Lead Electrical Engineer (PE)
Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering efforts for commercial, industrial, institutional, and distributed generation solar projects.
- Collaborate with internal design teams and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, review, and approve electrical designs, calculations, and construction documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to solar designers and engineering staff.
- Perform electrical system analysis and engineering calculations using industry-standard methods and practices.
- Seal engineering drawings and construction packages as a licensed Professional Engineer where required.
- Manage equipment specifications, technical reviews, and submittal documentation.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements.
- Conduct engineering inspections and verify installations align with approved plans and engineering documentation.
- Support project management activities related to engineering scope, schedules, and deliverables.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities independently in a remote work environment.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, and photovoltaic (PV) design/modeling software.
- Ability and willingness to obtain licensure in multiple states as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- NABCEP certification.
- Prior experience designing solar photovoltaic systems.
- Experience with energy storage systems (ESS) and distributed energy resources.
- Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and renewable energy projects.
