Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 Base Salary + Benefits

Our client is a growing manufacturer of engineered power distribution and control equipment serving industrial, commercial, utility, and infrastructure markets throughout North America. The company specializes in custom-built electrical products and provides innovative solutions for critical power applications.
As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Low Voltage Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
Position Summary
The Low Voltage Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical assemblies, enclosures, and layouts for low voltage electrical equipment. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure products are functional, manufacturable, and compliant with applicable standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing electrical equipment within a manufacturing environment and will enjoy collaborating directly with production teams to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical assemblies, enclosures, and layouts for low voltage electrical products
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate electrical and mechanical components
- Provide manufacturing support by resolving assembly, fit-up, and fabrication issues
- Support design improvements focused on quality, cost reduction, and manufacturability
- Prepare engineering documentation, bills of materials, and drawing revisions
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and customer requirements
- Participate in product development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support projects from initial design through manufacturing release and production
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience designing electrical equipment, enclosures, assemblies, or similar engineered products
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or comparable 3D CAD software
- Strong AutoCAD experience
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, motor control centers, or power distribution equipment
- Familiarity with industry standards and electrical equipment requirements
- Experience with product lifecycle management, PDM systems, or ERP-integrated environments
- Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing principles
- Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
