Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer
Position Overview:
The Mid-Level Mechanical & Plumbing Engineer will focus on designing mechanical and plumbing systems for new construction, additions, and renovation projects. This role involves technical leadership in developing construction documents, conducting system studies, and participating in master planning. The engineer will collaborate with clients, project teams, code officials, and contractors to address mechanical challenges and build strong working relationships. Project types include educational, commercial, healthcare, science and technology, municipal, and institutional facilities.
The Mechanical & Plumbing Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical and plumbing systems for new construction, renovations, and additions. This includes technical leadership in preparing construction documents, conducting system evaluations, and participating in planning efforts. The role involves collaboration with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and compliant system designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC and plumbing systems based on project requirements
- Conduct engineering evaluations and system planning
- Perform load and energy calculations using industry-standard software
- Survey and document existing mechanical systems
- Develop system design calculations and select appropriate equipment
- Prepare and edit technical specifications and design documentation
- Research and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide construction phase support and administration
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews
- Mentor junior engineering staff
- Lead project teams and serve as a primary client contact
- Support business development and client engagement efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant design experience
- Proficiency in HVAC and plumbing system design
- Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and design practices
- Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lead and work effectively within teams
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel as needed
