About the Role
As the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of Mechanical Engineers responsible for designing and implementing mechanical infrastructure upgrades across existing healthcare facilities. This includes large‑scale chiller and boiler plant systems, HVAC and cooling solutions, and advanced building automation systems.
You will ensure that all designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations, while delivering reliable, efficient systems tailored to healthcare environments.
This role requires approximately 25% travel within the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers, fostering professional growth and a strong collaborative culture.
- Serve as technical lead for complex mechanical engineering projects, overseeing design direction and technical accuracy.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects from concept through completion.
- Coordinate closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and construction teams.
- Review mechanical system designs for compliance with safety requirements, codes, and design standards.
- Present technical documentation to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for plan review and approval.
- Ensure all designs meet healthcare, regulatory, and client‑specific requirements.
- Support field activities as needed to ensure quality, constructability, and successful project outcomes.
What You Bring
- Strong leadership and team‑development skills.
- Excellent communication abilities with clients, AHJs, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Deep knowledge of ASHRAE, MEP, and NFPA standards.
- Expertise in hydronic and refrigeration systems, HVAC, boilers, heat exchangers, and similar systems.
- Proficiency in Revit (required).
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and technical rigor.
- Ability to climb ladders and participate in limited field work.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEE required).
- 15+ years of experience in HVAC mechanical design and system studies.
- 5+ years of experience managing Mechanical Engineers.
- Active Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
